My Jersey Curse

Several years ago, I decided that it was finally time to show my support of the Purple and invest in a Vikings jersey.  I picked Moss, who at the time was far and away my favorite player on the team.

That very season?  He was injured and subsequently traded away to Oakland.

Well next season comes around, and I think, "Hey, I can't be wearing a jersey of a guy who used to play for the Vikes!"  So I decided to get a new one.  Culpepper had just recieved a nice, long contract extension, so he wasn't going anywhere, right?

Wrong!  That season, Culpepper was injured and then traded away as well.

It's been awhile since I last got a jersey, but lo and behold, this year my family got me a brand new EJ Henderson jersey...

And now he's on IR, and I'm crossing my fingers that he doesn't go anywhere this offseason!  Maybe I should just avoid buying any more in the future.

Vikings D makes Saints sloppy

I would just like to point out, amongst all the experts commenting on how the Saints shot themselves in the foot, that our defense played an incredible game.  Drew Brees and Co. had 5 fumbles (2 of which were recovered by Minnesota), 2 INTs,  and plenty of penalties.  Our D held the flashy Saints offense to only one TD.  While the announcers repeatedly brought up all the injuries to the NO offense, the losses of E.J. Henderson and Madieu Williams were barely discussed at all.  But despite these losses, the defense played an outstanding game.  The Saints, while still racking up the yardage, played sloppy because our defense made them look sloppy.  Reggie Bush's record-tying night was spoiled not because of the Saint's ineptitude, but because of the Minnesota D.

Sure, the punt coverage was aweful, and the running game never really got going.  But our team won.  Sure, we had a bad call go our way, along with a couple other close ones, but if any team was due to get some close calls, it was the Vikings.

I'm just absolutely sick of everyone blaming all the negative things on our team and all the positives on the opposing team.  We played a good game against a good opponent, and came out with a W.  It was far from perfect, but it is a win.  When it all comes down to it, the Vikes won because they wanted it more and kept fighting.

Vikings fans near Chicago?

Just wondering if any other Vikings fans were in the Chicago area.  It would be awesome to get together for few games this year!  I'm actually living 45 minutes outside of the outter loop, but would gladly make to trip up to the windy city to chill with my norse brethren!  I am a bit isolated myself here, surrounded by tons of Bears and Colts fans.  It would just be so much better to actually watch a game where everyone's cheering for the Vikes rather than against them!

Anybody interested?

Viking-Packers Rivalry

Okay, so I know ESPN isn't the greatest place in the world for sports coverage, but Kevin Seifert wrote a great post about what this first game means for the Vikes.

CBS Sportsline Top 50 Players

Just came out with this a few days ago.

Four Vikings made the list:

Kevin Williams at 10

Jared Allen at 12

AD at 15

Steve Hutchinson at 19.

Overall I thought the rankings were pretty fair, except the glaring absence of Phat Pat! Thoughts?
